Spend your whole life earning money to pass on to
your children and they will spend it.
Spend your whole life building character to pass on to
your children and they will keep it.
--- Anthony Silard
The most important thing you leave your children is not money, but your name. Project yourself to the last days of your life. What will you most wish for – that you had left your children more money, or that you had lived by values you believe in and had avoided certain actions that did not reflect the person you wanted to be? While they will spend whatever money is left in your bank account, they will keep their memories of you – of the values you stood for, the love you shared with them, the sacrifices you made on their behalf – forever. These memories will leave them with feelings of either strength and pride or bitterness and shame about their heritage. Write down some of the most important values that you wish to actualize every day of your life. How will you live these values this week?
